What’s New in Flock Audio's Patch App DX 1.1.2: A Streamlined Workflow for Audio Pros

Patch App DX 1.1.2 is here, and it brings a host of improvements designed to enhance your signal routing experience, especially for studios using Flock Audio’s hardware. From smarter multi-unit management to improved gain control, let’s walk through what’s new in this version.

Effortless Signal Flow Editing with the New “Bump” Feature

Editing signal chains just got simpler. The new Bump feature lets you drop a hardware selection into an existing signal path without manually shifting everything down first. Just drag your selection slightly over the green indicator, and the app automatically makes space by moving all other hardware down. This means quicker adjustments and less hassle during live sessions or complex patching.

Simplified Multi-Unit Routing

Patch App DX now handles send and return routing behind the scenes for users with multi-unit setups. Previously, you had to manually route between patches—but now, simply selecting hardware from a second patch unit will automatically generate the necessary routing. This change greatly reduces setup time and avoids unnecessary steps when dealing with large or complex configurations.

To activate this, go to Settings > User Preferences > Customize Tab, then toggle on Automatically Use Multi-Unit Passes. After saving, the app will handle all patch linking in the background, allowing for a smoother workflow across rooms or racks.

Organize Your Setup with the “Grouping” Feature

Managing multiple devices across different studios is easier with the new Grouping function. Found under Network Settings, this feature lets you assign devices like iPads or Macs to specific rooms or setups. Devices grouped together communicate only with the designated Patch App DX instance, ensuring smooth room-specific control. This is ideal for multi-room facilities or collaborative environments.

CX Module Upgrades: Gain Control & Customization

Patch App DX 1.1.2 brings several enhancements specifically for CX module users:

  • Grid Gain Control: Adjust microphone gain directly from the routing grid—just right-click to make changes without diving into the settings menu.

  • Radial or Vertical Scrolling: Choose how you adjust gain—stick with the radial scroll or switch to a vertical scroll via Settings > User Preferences > Customize Tab.

  • Individual Gain Settings: Save unique gain levels for each stored routing. Perfect for sessions with multiple vocalists, you can now switch between routing presets and have the gain adjust automatically.

Bug Fixes and Stability Enhancements

This update includes numerous bug fixes and optimizations to improve stability. You’ll find the complete list in the release notes, ensuring transparency on all adjustments.

Upcoming: Ethernet Control for Patch XT

For Patch XT users, Flock Audio will soon roll out a public beta that introduces Ethernet control, enabling even more flexible hardware management. Keep an eye on your inbox for access if you’re a current XT user.

Final Thoughts

Patch App DX 1.1.2 reflects Flock Audio’s ongoing commitment to streamlining the audio professional’s workflow. Whether you're managing multiple studios or fine-tuning a vocal session, these new features make your routing system more responsive and easier to control.
