AMS Neve has confirmed a revision to the 88M Dual Mic Preamp and USB Audio Interface that will begin shipping in early 2026. This update focuses on connectivity and manufacturing refinements, while keeping the audio performance and core functionality unchanged.
The 88M remains a compact two-channel audio interface designed around transformer-based mic preamps derived from the 88RS console lineage. The updated revision does not replace the existing model but refines certain technical aspects to support long-term production and usability.
What’s New in the 88M Revision 2
The updated 88M includes several practical changes that do not affect sound quality or workflow for recording and monitoring:
- USB connection updated from USB-A to USB-C
- Addition of a dedicated power on/off switch
- Improved USB functionality for DAW mixing
- Minor internal refinements to support future manufacturing

These updates are hardware-level adjustments rather than feature expansions. The signal path, converters, preamp design, and monitoring architecture remain consistent with the original revision.
Audio Performance Remains Unchanged
AMS Neve has confirmed that both revisions of the 88M deliver identical audio performance. This includes:
- The same transformer-based microphone, line, and DI inputs
- Identical gain ranges and noise performance
- The same AD/DA conversion specifications
- No differences in sound quality, latency, or monitoring behavior
Customers using the original 88M revision are not at any disadvantage, and existing units remain fully supported.
Availability and Pricing During the Transition
As AMS Neve transitions to the updated 88M revision, we will be offering our remaining 88M Revision 1 stock at a discounted price while supplies last. These units deliver the same audio performance, specifications, and functionality as the newer revision, with differences limited to connectivity and hardware refinements. Once current stock is sold through, future availability will move exclusively to the revised model.

Hi Louis, thanks for the question! Unfortunately we don’t buy used gear or offer a trade-in program at this time. If that changes in the future we’ll be sure to share the update. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Is there a trade in scheme for older units?
The new DAW input stage refers to the part of the 88M that handles audio coming back from your computer/DAW for playback and monitoring. In Revision 2, AMS Neve has refined this return section to improve USB performance and make DAW mixing more consistent, but the preamps, converters, and overall sound remain the same. This is based on information AMS Neve has shared directly with dealers as part of the Revision 2 update.
Where did neve announce this? Also what does the new “daw” input stage do?
