Philosophy
FetHead is a low-noise, high quality, in-line microphone preamplifier. It provides improved sound for Ribbon and Dynamic microphones. The electronics are housed in a robust metal chassis with a balanced 3-pole female XLR input and a balanced 3-pole male XLR output, rugged enough for use at home, in the studio or on tour.
Which microphones benefit
In short, we noticed an improvement on all tested microphones. A Shure SM57 for instance, sounds more responsive over a broader frequency range. When mated with a high-end dynamic microphone like a Sennheiser MD441, or Shure SM7 FetHead really shines. Ribbon microphones benefit greatly too because of a much better impedance match, which lessens the load on the microphone, giving it better transient response characteristics. FetHeads high quality, low noise signal amplification also extends the usable range of a ribbon microphone, making it more suitable for recording softer passages.

Lots of gain, no pain
Great little in-line signal booster. I removed the transformer from an SM57, and this helps give a big and clean boost to the signal. It also isolates phantom power from the mic, so no worries about damaging ribbons, etc. Excellent quality, and great service as always from Studio Economik - thanks,

It works great with my SM7B. Way cheaper than the cloudlifter and works just as well. Very happy with the purchase.

Ce produit, livre ce qu'il promet!
Quasiment moitié prix de son proche concurrent, le design est compact et évite d'avoir à utiliser 2 câbles XLR. Je m'en sert depuis plus d'un an avec Mes Shure SM7B et c'est parfait!

Great, cheap in-line pre for dynamic mics
Using in conjunction with a Motu M4, which has decent pre's but is about ~10db short of enough gain to properly drive a Rode Podmic. The M4 and any other cheap interface will introduce at least some noise when going past 8 on the gain dial. The FetHead offers me more than enough gain so I can keep the gain dial at around 6 on my interface.

Works as advertised. Adds gain to dynamic mics with phantom power
I recently bought a EV RE320 dynamic mic for podcasting and VO work. I found that although the mic was great, the levels it produced with my Zoom H4n were far too low. The Fethead adds about 20Db of gain to the mic using 48V of phantom power (the power never actually reaches the mic).

Must Have
This is a must have if you use ribbon mics. The additional gain that it gives you is pretty awesome. It not only add some gain, it gives you sonically talking all the frequencies your mic can deliver.

Clean gain boost for low output mics
The FetHead is an excellent little device, providing transparent gain to low output dynamic mics. Even with good mic pres, having some additional headroom where I could back off on the pre gain was much appreciated. Used on all of my Shure SM7Bs.

Triton Fathead à utiliser sans modération!!!
Si vous avez besoin de gain pour un micro à ruban! Le Triton Fethead est la solution à vos problèmes.

Triton FetHead saves the day
I was having issues when using Shure SM7 microphones in my studio because of gain/noise issues.
The snake I use sometimes picks-up noise from electrical lines nearby. Of course with the gain requirements for the Shure SM7, you amplify sound as well as noise.
