Today marks the official launch of two new microphones from Lectrosonics, unveiled at NAB 2026 in Las Vegas. The S1 shotgun microphone and L1 lavalier microphone expand the company’s lineup into production sound capture, covering both boom and body-worn applications for film, television, broadcast, and location recording.

The S1 is a supercardioid shotgun microphone designed for directional capture in fast-paced production environments. It uses a true condenser capsule with RF biasing, a design known for stability in humid or challenging outdoor conditions. The precision line tube maintains a consistent polar pattern with controlled off-axis rejection, supporting focused dialogue capture with minimal coloration.

With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and a low equivalent noise of 10 dB(A), the S1 is built for detailed recording. Its lightweight aluminum body measures 8.4 inches and weighs 2.7 oz, making it suitable for extended boom use. The microphone operates on standard 48V phantom power with low current draw, supporting portable recording setups.

Alongside it, the L1 lavalier microphone introduces Sonaura MEMS capsule technology. This silicon-based design replaces traditional FET capsules and allows for precise manufacturing consistency, with units matched in sensitivity and frequency response within tight tolerances.

The L1 offers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and omnidirectional pickup, with interchangeable acoustic caps that adjust high-frequency response. It supports both high- and low-sensitivity modes when paired with compatible transmitters, allowing it to handle a wide range of sound pressure levels.

Designed for demanding environments, the L1 incorporates moisture-resistant construction, including hydrophobic coatings and sealed capsule ports. This supports reliable operation in outdoor and high-humidity conditions.

Together, the S1 and L1 provide a combination of directional and omnidirectional capture options, covering key workflows in production audio from boom operation to concealed talent miking.
