The Arturia KeyStep 37 MK2 is a compact MIDI controller and sequencer designed for hybrid music production setups. It combines a 37-note Slimkey keyboard with sequencing tools and wide hardware and software connectivity, making it suitable for DAW control, modular systems, and standalone hardware rigs.
It supports studio production, live performance sequencing, and analog synth control in a streamlined format.
37-Note Slimkey Keyboard with Aftertouch
The KeyStep 37 MK2 features a velocity-sensitive 37-note Slimkey keyboard with aftertouch for expressive performance control. Two capacitive touch strips provide pitch bend and modulation control for real-time input.
Chord and Scale modes allow users to create harmonically structured parts by triggering chords or constraining notes to selected scales directly from the keyboard.
Polyphonic Sequencer and Arpeggiator
The built-in polyphonic step sequencer supports up to 64 steps with 8-voice polyphony. A 16-mode arpeggiator includes generative pattern styles for rhythmic and melodic variation.
Creative tools such as Mutate, Spice, and Dice modify sequences in real time. Pattern chaining enables longer arrangements, and users can record bend and modulation movements into sequences.
Four dedicated encoders provide direct access to sequencer, arpeggiator, and variation parameters. These encoders can also be assigned to MIDI CC or CV/Gate destinations for customized control.
MIDI, CV, and Sync Connectivity
The KeyStep 37 MK2 supports integration with both modern and legacy gear. Connection options include:
- USB-C MIDI with bus power
- Full-size MIDI DIN In and Out
- 3.5 mm Sync In and Out
- Sustain or expression pedal input
- Four CV/Gate outputs: Pitch, Gate, Mod 1, Mod 2
The CV outputs are assignable to parameters such as velocity, aftertouch, or mod wheel, allowing expressive control over modular and analog synthesizers.
Low-power operation supports iPad compatibility when used with a camera connection kit.
Display and Workflow Features
An OLED display with a clickable encoder provides visual feedback and navigation. RGB LED feedback supports clear mode indication across Sequencer, Arpeggiator, Chord, and Mutate functions.
A dedicated MIDI CC button provides access to four banks, offering up to 16 assignable MIDI CCs available across all modes.
