Barefoot Sound has officially launched the LFE12, a new Dual-Force subwoofer designed to bring extended low-frequency performance to its Footprint Series studio monitors. Featuring two opposing 12-inch woofers, 1400 watts of amplification, and bass extension down to 17 Hz, the LFE12 delivers the depth, accuracy, and control needed for professional stereo, surround, and immersive audio monitoring.

Dual-Force Technology for Controlled Low Frequencies

The LFE12 uses Barefoot Sound's signature Dual-Force technology, pairing two opposing 12-inch aluminum-cone woofers with powerful neodymium motors. As the drivers operate, their mechanical forces counteract one another, significantly reducing cabinet vibration and unwanted resonance.

This force-cancelling design allows the LFE12 to produce deep, powerful bass without sacrificing definition or transient response. Combined with a rigid, sealed enclosure and 1400 watts of amplification, the system delivers low-frequency extension down to 17 Hz while maintaining the accuracy required for critical mixing and mastering.

Designed for the Footprint Series

The LFE12 was developed specifically to complement Barefoot Sound's Footprint01, Footprint02, Footprint03, and Footprint03C studio monitors.

For stereo monitoring, the subwoofer features dual BOOST inputs with full-bandwidth THRU outputs, allowing users to extend the low-frequency response of their existing Footprint monitors. Selectable 60 Hz and 80 Hz low-pass filters provide flexibility when integrating the subwoofer into different monitoring environments.

The LFE12 also includes a dedicated LFE input for 5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos, and other multichannel configurations. Selectable 80 Hz and 120 Hz low-pass filters, a 0 dB or +10 dB gain switch, and stepped input-level adjustments help achieve precise integration with the rest of the monitoring system.

Hands-Free Low-Frequency Control

One of the LFE12's practical features is its included dual-switch foot controller, which provides independent control over the LFE and BOOST inputs.

Users can instantly engage or mute either mode without interrupting their workflow. Both modes can also operate simultaneously, making it easy to compare monitoring configurations, evaluate low-frequency content, and make informed mixing decisions.

The LFE12 also features balanced XLR connectivity and a USB-C port dedicated to factory calibration and service.

Compact Design, Serious Output

Despite housing two 12-inch woofers, the LFE12 maintains a relatively compact footprint, measuring 18 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 17 inches deep.

Its sealed 46-litre cabinet features internal acoustic damping and a durable Footprint Gray polyester finish. With a maximum peak SPL rating of at least 122 dB, the LFE12 provides substantial low-frequency headroom for demanding studio applications.

A Natural Extension of Barefoot Monitoring

The LFE12 gives Footprint owners a dedicated solution for extending their monitoring systems into deeper low-frequency territory. From stereo mixing and mastering to complex immersive audio productions, it combines powerful bass reproduction with the precision and control associated with Barefoot Sound.

With Dual-Force technology, flexible integration options, and convenient footswitch control, the LFE12 adds an important new option to the Footprint ecosystem.
