Chinese audio manufacturer Cosonic International has agreed to acquire the legendary German brand Beyerdynamic in a deal worth about €122 million (around US$140 million). The agreement was signed in early June 2025, with full completion expected within a few months once regulatory approvals are finalized.
For customers, the reassuring news is that Beyerdynamic’s leadership team will remain in place, its 375 employees will stay on, and production will continue in Heilbronn, Germany. That means the “Handmade in Heilbronn” identity that Beyerdynamic is known for isn’t going anywhere. Contracts with distributors and partners are also set to remain unchanged.
Where things may evolve is in global reach and product development. Cosonic, which has long been an OEM and ODM partner for other brands, will now have a premium audio label of its own. By tapping into Beyerdynamic’s established sales network, Cosonic is aiming to push further into international markets. With greater financial backing, there’s also potential for expanded R&D and faster product development.
Still, any ownership change can bring uncertainty. While Beyerdynamic has promised continuity, over time there could be adjustments in materials, support policies, or pricing strategies. For those considering a new purchase, now could be a smart moment to invest while the company is still firmly under its existing setup.
