Universal Audio’s free UAFX 2.0 update expands the capabilities of UAFX amp and effects pedals by adding MIDI over USB control. This makes it easier to integrate UAFX pedals into modern rigs for live performance, studio recording, or complex pedalboard setups.
What’s New with USB MIDI
With UAFX 2.0, UAFX pedals can now receive MIDI data directly through the built-in USB-C port. This allows users to:
- Recall presets instantly from a MIDI controller or host
- Control parameters in real time using MIDI messages
- Sync effects or parameters with other devices in a rig
- Connect to a USB MIDI host without needing 5-pin DIN adapters
USB MIDI support makes UAFX pedals compatible with a wide range of modern MIDI-controlled setups, from compact boards to full studio rigs.
How It Works
- Each supported UAFX pedal receives MIDI over its USB-C port when connected to a compatible MIDI host or controller
- Multiple pedals can be connected using a USB hub and controlled together
- Most dual-footswitch UAFX models, including amp emulators and advanced effects, support these MIDI features once updated to UAFX 2.0
To activate the new features, update your pedal’s firmware using the UA Connect app and update the UAFX Control app on your phone or tablet.
Why This Matters
MIDI control gives users hands-free preset switching and parameter adjustments in demanding setups. It removes the need for manual pedal tweaking and allows for tight integration with other instruments, DAWs, and performance tools. USB MIDI control adds a new layer of flexibility to any UAFX pedal rig.
