As part of the A-CORE Series, it represents the company’s fully analog approach to monitoring, offering a low-latency, DSP-free signal path built for users who demand consistency and sonic accuracy.
Purpose-Built Analog Monitoring
Designed and assembled in Berlin by HEDD founder Klaus Heinz and his team, the TYPE 20 A-CORE carries forward the high-performance engineering found in HEDD’s MK2 and Tower Mains systems. It’s built around a 100% analog signal path with no digital conversion or software involvement, ideal for professionals who prefer direct, unprocessed sound.
Key driver elements include:
- A 7" honeycomb woofer and 4" honeycomb midrange, engineered for accurate low-frequency and midrange response
- HEDD’s handmade Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, delivering smooth and detailed highs with fast transient response
- Three 300 W ICEpower Class D amplifiers for efficient, low-distortion output across all frequency bands
Analog Flexibility with Acoustic Control
The monitor’s fully analog filter network ensures a phase-coherent, natural frequency response. For acoustic tuning, the rear panel includes dedicated bass and treble EQ controls offering ±6 dB of adjustment, enabling users to compensate for broad acoustic issues without software or menu navigation.
The cabinet, made from durable MDF and acoustically optimized for airflow and driver performance, supports the monitor’s flat frequency response (32 Hz – 40 kHz) and extended dynamic range, reaching up to 120 dB SPL per pair.
Seamless Studio Integration
The TYPE 20 A-CORE is compatible with a wide range of setups thanks to its full set of analog inputs, XLR, TRS, and RCA, and plug-and-play design. No setup software is required, making integration fast and hassle-free in both studio and hi-fi systems.
Recommended placement includes:
- Horizontal orientation with tweeters facing inward
- Tweeter aligned with ear level or angled toward the listener
- Equilateral triangle positioning for stereo setups, with ITU-guided placement for surround configurations
