inMusic has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Native Instruments, the Berlin-based music technology company known for software platforms and creative tools used in music production, DJ performance, mastering, and audio production.
Native Instruments develops Kontakt, Traktor, iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx. The company reports a direct relationship with more than 25 million registered users worldwide, covering musicians, producers, DJs, and audio professionals across a wide range of creative workflows.
inMusic is a Rhode Island-based music technology company founded in 1992. Its portfolio includes Akai Professional, Moog Music, Denon DJ, Numark, Rane, M-Audio, Alesis, Alto Professional, Denon Professional, and ION Audio. The company focuses on hardware and software products for performance, production, and DJ applications.
The acquisition follows an existing collaboration between inMusic and Native Instruments. In 2025, the two companies announced NKS integration for Akai Professional MPK controllers and M-Audio Oxygen controllers, along with the addition of Native Instruments sounds to the MPC standalone platform. This earlier partnership connected Native Instruments’ software ecosystem with inMusic hardware platforms.
According to the announcement, both companies plan to continue investing across their brands and product lines. Native Instruments products, services, platforms, and customer support remain available while the transaction moves toward completion, subject to customary closing conditions.
The companies also stated that business will continue normally across Native Instruments brands and territories. More details about integration plans are expected as the process moves forward.
For customers, the announcement points to a closer connection between established music production software and hardware platforms. Native Instruments’ software tools, including Kontakt, Traktor, iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx, will now sit alongside inMusic brands such as Akai Professional, Moog Music, Denon DJ, Numark, Rane, and M-Audio.
