Shure SLX-D+ Wireless System: A Feature-Rich Successor to SLX-D

Shure SLX-D+ Wireless System: A Feature-Rich Successor to SLX-D

Studio Economik |

The Shure SLX-D+ wireless system has officially launched as the successor to the SLX-D, offering a significant expansion in tuning range, control options, and RF reliability. Designed for use in live events, permanent installations, location sound, and rental, SLX-D+ builds on the original platform’s strengths while addressing the growing demand for more frequency flexibility and remote management.

Key Improvements Over SLX-D

Compared to the SLX-D system, SLX-D+ introduces several key upgrades:

  • Wider Tuning Range: SLX-D+ offers up to 138 MHz tuning (up from 44 MHz on SLX-D), allowing more flexibility across frequency bands and accommodating up to 85 channels per band.
  • Lower Latency: Latency is reduced from 3.2 ms to 2.8 ms for more responsive performance.
  • Encryption: SLX-D+ includes AES-256 encryption for secure signal transmission, a feature not available in SLX-D.
  • ShowLink® Ease: This system allows remote control of transmitters from the receiver, enabling frequency changes, gain adjustments, locking controls, and firmware updates without direct access to the transmitter.
  • Digital Feedback Reduction (DFR): Patented DSP automatically suppresses audio feedback in real time.
  • Optional Dante Networking: Select SLX-D+ models include Dante integration for IP-based audio routing.

DSP and Control Enhancements

SLX-D+ expands on the high-pass filter of SLX-D by adding:

  • Digital Feedback Reducer (DFR)
  • Audio Summing (for Dual and Quad receivers)

These features are accessible through Shure’s Wireless Workbench desktop software and WWB Mobile app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, simplifying system setup and adjustments from anywhere in the venue.

Compatibility and Transition Notes

  • Backward Compatibility: SLX-D+ transmitters can be used with existing SLX-D receivers, though limited to SLX-D functionality.
  • Phase-Out of SLX-D: SLX-D systems are being discontinued as of February 1, 2026, and will only be available while supplies last.

Power Options

Both systems use either AA batteries or the SB903 rechargeable lithium-ion battery. SLX-D+ offers up to 8 hours of battery life and integrates with optional charging accessories like the SBC203 dual dock or SBC80-903 8-bay charger.
