Studio Economik Now Carrying Mesanovic Microphones

Studio Economik |

Studio Economik is now carrying Mesanovic Microphones, adding a selection of ribbon microphones and 500 Series gear designed and built in Detroit. Mesanovic focuses on in-house manufacturing, with every major component machined, finished, and assembled at their facility. This approach allows tight control over production and consistent results across their product range.

A key part of Mesanovic’s design process is their in-house transformer and inductor manufacturing. These components are developed and wound internally, then integrated into microphones and outboard gear. This ensures each transformer is matched to its specific application, supporting stable signal performance across different recording scenarios. Mesanovic also manufactures OEM magnetics for other professional audio companies.

All products are built to strict tolerances and undergo detailed testing. Microphones and speakers are measured in an anechoic chamber, while speaker development uses Klippel NFS systems. Audio Precision tools are used for testing outboard gear and transformer performance. This process supports consistency and repeatability from unit to unit.

The Mesanovic lineup now available at Studio Economik includes ribbon microphones and a 500 Series preamp suited for a variety of recording applications.

The Mesanovic Model 2 is a passive ribbon microphone built with an aluminum ribbon and a custom motor structure. It uses an in-house transformer and is designed to deliver a balanced response with controlled low frequencies and extended high-frequency detail. Its compact form factor allows for flexible placement in studio setups, making it suitable for vocals, acoustic instruments, and amplified sources such as guitar cabinets and drums.

The Mesanovic Model 2S is a stereo ribbon microphone that uses two matched ribbon elements positioned at a 90 degree angle. This configuration supports stereo techniques such as Blumlein and mid-side recording. It maintains consistent phase alignment between channels and provides a natural stereo image with balanced frequency response. It is commonly used for room capture, ensembles, and acoustic instruments.

The Mesanovic M97 is a 500 Series microphone preamp built around a discrete op amp design with custom-wound input and output transformers. It provides up to 64 dB of gain and includes controls such as stepped gain, pad, polarity, phantom power, and a variable output attenuator. These features allow adjustment of signal level and output staging across different recording setups.

With Mesanovic now available, Studio Economik expands its offering with American-made microphones and outboard gear built around in-house component design and controlled manufacturing processes.
