Two Notes has announced the Torpedo Captor X + 8 Ohms and Torpedo Captor X + 16 Ohms, a new reactive load box built for guitarists working with tube amplifiers in studio, live, and silent environments. Expanding on the original Captor X, this updated model introduces stereo cabinet processing, enhanced routing, and additional tone shaping tools, while keeping the core concept of direct amp connectivity.
Captor X + allows a tube amp to be connected directly to an interface, PA system, or headphones without requiring a traditional speaker cabinet. It combines reactive load handling, attenuation, cabinet simulation, impulse response loading, and onboard processing into a single compact unit, offering a consistent signal path across different use cases.

At the center of the system is the True Stereo DynIR engine, which processes cabinet simulation in stereo with independent control over left and right channels. Each virtual cabinet includes multiple microphone options and room simulations, allowing detailed adjustment of placement and spatial image. The unit comes preloaded with 32 virtual cabinets and supports up to 512 user-loaded IRs, providing flexibility for different recording and performance setups.
A new addition in this version is the Virtual Load Shaper, which adjusts the post-load impedance response of the connected amplifier. This enables changes to the perceived low-end, presence, and overall response of the amp signal after the load stage, giving users another layer of control when working without a physical cabinet.
Captor X + is designed to operate both with and without a speaker cabinet. The built-in attenuator offers three fixed levels, allowing users to reduce volume while keeping the amplifier operating in its optimal range. It also supports fully silent operation through its cabinet simulation and headphone output, making it suitable for recording or practice without external speakers.
For output, dual XLR connections provide flexible routing options, including stereo processing, dual mono setups, or simultaneous dry and processed signals. Internal processing includes reverb, EQ, noise gate, and a double-tracking effect, all applied directly within the unit before the signal reaches its destination.
Control is handled through the Torpedo Remote software via USB, MIDI, or wireless connection, where users can manage cabinet selection, microphone positioning, and preset storage. The system supports up to 128 presets, with quick access available directly from the hardware.
Captor X + is available in two impedance versions, 8Ω and 16Ω, with identical features and power handling up to 100 watts RMS.
