Description

The 576 FET Compressor is a 500-series dynamics processor built to the VPR Alliance standard, offering both vintage-inspired tone and modern flexibility. Ideal for tracking individual channels or as part of a mix bus chain, it can be linked with a second unit for true stereo operation.

At its core, the 576 employs a BF245 FET transistor for gain control, the same topology that powered the legendary UREI 1176. But rather than simply replicate a classic, Quagliardi pushes further"integrating custom transformers, a 2520-style op-amp, parallel compression, and unique circuitry that expands tonal versatility while preserving ease of use. Key controls include Input and Output gain, Attack and Release times, and selectable ratios up to 8:1 for anything from subtle leveling to aggressive limiting. A Dry/Wet mix knob makes parallel compression effortless, while XREL mode minimizes harmonic distortion and extends flat frequency response to 30 kHz for maximum clarity.

Additional features like high-pass sidechain filters at 80 Hz and 120 Hz, a Bypass mode that retains transformer coloration, and full stereo link capability make the 576 a dynamic and flexible tool for modern engineers. Powerful, musical, and unmistakably distinctive, the 576 FET Compressor is designed to stand out in a crowded field of clones and deliver character that inspires.

Features

500 Series compatibility: Works with any chassis that follows the VPR Alliance standard

Classic FET compression topology: Inspired by the legendary UREI 1176, using a BF245 FET transistor

Custom hybrid design: Incorporates custom transformers, a 2520-style op-amp, and parallel compression for unique sonic character

Input and Output controls: Adjust input gain for compression intensity and output gain post-compression

Attack and Release controls: Fine-tune compression timing for fast or smooth response

Ratio control: Select compression ratios (e.g., 4:1, 8:1) for flexible dynamic control

Dry/Wet Mix knob: Built-in parallel compression without external routing

XREL circuit: Reduces THD and extends flat frequency response up to 30 kHz for transparent operation

Bypass mode: Disables compression but retains the module's analog circuitry coloration

HPF sidechain filters: Selectable 80 Hz and 120 Hz high-pass filters prevent low-frequency pumping

Stereo Link function: Pairs with another 576 FET Compressor for mix bus use; links control parameters for true stereo compression
