Description
Description
CEDAR I-APX (APEX Adaptive Limiter) is CEDAR Audio's flagship adaptive mastering limiter, designed to maximize loudness while preserving transparency, depth, and stereo imaging. Built on the company's Emmy® Award-winning Adaptive Limiter technology, APEX takes a fundamentally different approach from conventional limiters. Instead of simply reducing peaks, it continuously creates and adjusts a dynamic spectral profile across the frequency spectrum, allowing it to increase perceived loudness while maintaining the integrity and musicality of the source material.
APEX is particularly well suited to mastering applications where low-frequency energy and stereo image preservation are critical. Its advanced spectral limiting engine provides detailed control over how limiting behaves across different frequencies, allowing engineers to shape the character of the processing from warm and weighty to bright and open. Dedicated LF and HF Temporal controls influence how quickly the limiter responds in different frequency regions, while the unique Link control manages how limiting is shared between channels, helping preserve the original soundstage and stereo positioning during aggressive loudness processing.
For final delivery, APEX includes oversampling and True Peak limiting to control inter-sample peaks with exceptional accuracy, making it suitable for streaming, broadcast, and commercial release workflows. Additional quantisation and noise-shaping options allow it to serve as the final stage in a mastering chain. The result is a limiter capable of delivering competitive loudness levels, transparent dynamics control, and precise tonal shaping across a wide range of music, dialogue, and post-production applications.
