Description
Description
The Warm Audio Sound Techniques Stereo Jude Microphone Preamp brings a landmark British console preamp design into a modern two-channel studio format. Created in official collaboration with Sound Techniques, the JUDE-MP2 uses the original “A-Range” preamp circuit associated with the custom consoles at London’s Trident Studios. Designed by Geoff Frost, this topology helped shape recordings from artists including The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, and Queen, giving Jude a direct connection to some of the most recognizable studio sounds of the 1960s and 1970s.
Each channel preserves the original signal path with a dual-discrete 3035 Class-A amplifier, custom CineMag input and output transformers, and carefully selected components including Wima and Nichicon capacitors. Its 9-position Z-Match control is derived from Sound Techniques’ original impedance-matching design, allowing the preamp to interact differently with a wide range of microphones. This gives engineers a practical way to adjust response, gain behavior, and tonal character while recording vocals, guitars, pianos, drum overheads, and other sources.
With up to 76 dB of preamp gain depending on impedance setting, switchable 48V phantom power, polarity control, line-level operation, balanced XLR and 1/4-inch connectivity, and VU meter level indication, the Stereo Jude combines historic circuit design with the flexibility expected in a contemporary recording setup. Hand-tested and inspected in Austin, Texas, it offers producers and engineers an authentic path to the depth, saturation, and character associated with classic Sound Techniques consoles.
