I was in a situation where I was unable to use my monitors for mixing and mastering. I bought a pair of BeyerDynamic DT770, but was not convinced they were as revealing as I needed. After speaking w my rep at Studio Economik, I picked up the AKG 812.
These are stunningly good headphones. If you can appreciate the sentiment, I don't want something that sounds good, I want something that sounds honest. They sound great against great material, but are very revealing, exposing bad edits and lazy mastering. Now that I have my studio back together, when I mix or master using my monitors, I always put on the AKGs to see if there is anything I missed.
