Custom Instruments, Audio Effects, and Midi Effects in Ableton Live
Max for Live is a collaboration between Cycling '74 and Ableton. With Max for Live you can create unique synthesizers, custom sequencers, clever MIDI tricks, or audio effects that work just like other Live devices. Max users can take advantage of the robust sequencing and performance tools available in Live while still using their favorite Max patches.
With the Live API objects, you can control your entire Live set from inside a single Max for Live device. These Max objects let you create LFOs for anything, find unique ways to manipulate clip playback, or gather information about other elements in the set. Leveraging the communication protocols and hardware compatibility of Max, you can connect anything you want to an Ableton Live project.
Max for Live comes with over 100 ready-to-use and well-documented devices, building blocks, and lessons, including many of our much-loved Pluggo plugins and a suite of tools developed by Max for Live master Manuel Poletti.
