With four crystal-clear, ultra low-noise Kashmir preamps, you can record multiple actors, multiple podcasters, or audio for film with superior quality - all the way up to a 32-bit float bit depth and a 192 kHz sample rate. This newest generation of Sound Devices? award-winning MixPre Series has been redesigned for increased performance and an astounding 142 dB of dynamic range.
Your MixPre-6 II is highly customizable to your needs. Record internally to a compatible SD card on set or stream your podcast over USB to your computer at home. Power with your computer, wall power, or record in the middle of nowhere with AA or Sony L-mount batteries. Adjust limiters, bit depth, sample rates, gain, pan, low-cut, phase inversion and phantom power to your liking. Trigger your camera with the internal timecode generator, or feed timecode in via HDMI or Aux In. The choice is yours!

Using multiple microphones with your MixPre II Enable MixAssist to reduce unwanted background noise while recording.
Are you a songwriter or musician Buy the Musician Plugin to easily create a song using your MixPre-6 II as a standalone recorder or USB interface. Use onboard features like overdub, bounce, reverb, and tracking to a metronome. Create Music Projects to lay down backing tracks and use them live or at home for writing or practicing. Capturing your song ideas has never been easier! While in Music Mode, the MixPre-6 II is limited to six simultaneous live inputs.

Impossible to clip the signal
It is impossible to clip the signal with this recorder (watch the demo on YouTube about this). This makes this recorder an obvious choice for someone recording very quiet sounds that require amplification, or someone who is recording a somewhat unpredictable or loud environment.
Read more The recording levels change the final quality of the sound, it just offers more versatility and dependability.

I realy like this sound recorder. Very accurate for what I do
This is a very good product if you dont' have the budget for highest product such as Sound Devices 888. But this product is perfect for what I do. High quality pre-amps and sturdy built.

Good things come in small packages
I am a user and fan of Sound Devices, the products and the company. Love the sound of their older, transformer front end preamps and heard so many positive reviews on the Kashmir series I was quite sure that a MixPre6ii would be perfect for a light, high quality device for remote field recording.
I had a couple of questions, so I contacted SD tech support with a couple of questions.

My local (Nova Scotia) dealer didn't have stock. Studio Economik was excellent in supplying product to me in the past, so I made a call to their store to check stock and then log in to their website and complete my order. Processed and shipped quickly!
Did a few test runs at home and then felt confident that the new recorder and accessories would work well in the field. As I write this review I am on Canada's west coast recording nature sounds and city/rural ambience. Easy to carry, easy to use and sounds great!
A great experience all round! Thank you Sound Devices and Studio Economik!
