Information

Our finest chamber strings library volume one; violins and cellos playing essential articulations. Small can be beautiful, ultra detailed and delicate. Electronic Delivery.

Part one of a band of 16 players (4,3,3,3).

After the delights of enormous string libraries and ensembles providing broad, brushstroke approaches to writing (which have, to some extent, characterised recent film, gaming and TV music), Spitfire are proud to present 1st violins (x4) and Cellos (x3). Some of the most in-demand London string players providing you with the tools you need to write detailed and focussed chamber parts that have a personality and style that represents your personality, that expresses your creative will and provides you with fresh pastures of experimentation.

Sable Volume 1 features two key sections from an ensemble cherry picked from some of the most decorated orchestras and groups working in London today, recorded at the much celebrated hall at Air Studios. Playing rarefied instruments that amount to millions of pounds worth of wood, cat hair and fine European antiquity. Volume 1 is a personally curated and detailed selection of "essential articulations" giving you everything you need to get up and running, writing fine chamber scores and finer detailed string parts.

If you're looking for a different sounding strings library, something that moves your listener with beauty and passion not size and scale, something that sets your sound out and above others then you're in the right place. Sable is the place to come for detail, engaging beauty and as a useful focussing tool when placed on top of bigger, broader strings libraries. We have also had reports from top producers who find this size of string better suits pop tracks than the more symphonic sized ones favoured by film composers.

Background
Part of a new, long-term project entitled the British Modular Library providing composers with the ability to add fine detail, musical expression, beauty and focus to their work. To write music that musicians love to play and to get the most out of smaller ensembles and the wealth of timbral colour and character they can add to any project. After many years of development experience Spitfire will present this library with a user interface and set of features unprecedented in any library to date. With 7 mic positions, recorded at 96k through vintage valve and ribbon mics to tape through Neve preamps and Prism convertors, and presented at 48k, 24bit in Kontakt format, and additionally three extremely useful 'mixed' versions.

Features
Volume 1 features four 1st violins and 3 cellos. They are seated exactly in situ so once combined with the rest of the sections in volumes 2 & 3 spacial integrity is maintained. Moreover combine with other BML modules or indeed the Albion range and you'll find the whole thing slots together like a beautifully conceived orchestral jigsaw puzzle. Remember this is not just panning left to right. If you want them to sound like they're sitting next to the 2nd violins and in front of the horns you have to place them there!

This is a deeply sampled library with a detailed and varied selection of essential articulations curated by multi award winning composers and musicians. The library features multiple round robins, dynamic layers and easily usable fully functional legato with control of vibrato.

The library is presented with numerous microphone positions which you can not only mix and blend to fit the application you're working on, but also automate for dramatic shifts in focus and depth. We have also specially commissioned 3 exclusive Jake Jackson mixes of every sample to save you time and system resources. These mixes are specially designed to work in different applications from pop to chamber to epic cinematic and by using these mixes across the BML range you can achieve total mix integrity, just as Jake would do it!
