The SPL Crimson is an interesting product for many reasons. Firstly, it is does not require a computer to be operational. Secondly, it's extremely flexible- I can use up to 4 different sets of speakers on this single monitor controller. It has a very impressive set of drivers that provide very low latency. Lastly, the mic preamps are probably the best I've heard to date. There are however some disadvantages; i) when the main level knob is low producing low output, it usually only comes out of the Left speaker, as you put it up you eventually hear it on both Left and Right. ii) It also doesn't have any software so you can't adjust input/output trims or routing. iii) You can actually hear the noise-floor on the output which is troubling. I recommend this product for anyone who wants to have a good interface merged with a controller, but probably not the best for someone who wants specialized products. As usual my shopping experience at Studio Economik was superb, Louis Simard was very helpful and patient- this is by far my favourite goto recording store and will remain so for good reasons!
