FetHead Phantom is a FetHead version which allows phantom power to reach the microphone.
It was developed after several requests from different audio engineers to build a FetHead for condenser microphones with low output. We tested FetHead Phantom on a broad range of condenser microphones and are very happy with the results. It works well with electret microphones like the countryman or an AKG C1000. These are microphones which consume little power, FetHead Phantom also works great on "real" condenser microphones like a Neumann U87, AKG C414 etc.
Protects the microphone
Some ribbon microphones do not tolerate phantom power, FetHead's circuit uses Phantom power but shields it from its input (and the microphone's output), as a result it offers effective protection to the microphone.
FetHead is a low-noise, high quality, in-line microphone preamplifier. It provides improved sound for Ribbon and Dynamic microphones. The electronics are housed in a robust metal chassis with a balanced 3-pole female XLR input and a balanced 3-pole male XLR output, rugged enough for use at home, in the studio or on tour.
These things are awesome, yes they work with dynamic mics very well as well. Takes 2 seconds to power on through it at the most, often just 1 second, but it does a very good job and sounds damn good on every mic I've tried so far. Any mic in the world besides ribbon mics, it just upgrades them all one step. Also!!! Very very good at driving long XLR cables, it can be used for this and does a very good job too. :)

NOT so impressive
I bought a pair of this to add some clean gain to my Rode NT4 attached to Tascam DR-60d.
Need to say that one of pieces come with improperly XLR installment so I need to repair it by myself. And second issue - gain of that "defective" FetHead was about 15 dB lower then another one.
