Chandler Limited REDD.47 Special Edition: Vintage EMI Sound, Built With Original Parts

Studio Economik |

If you love the classic character of Abbey Road era recordings, the Chandler Limited REDD.47 Special Edition Pre Amp is designed to deliver that tone with rare authenticity. Built with new old stock and vintage components sourced from the 1960s and 1970s, this special run brings the REDD lineage into modern studios with parts that shaped the original EMI sound.

What makes it special

Authentic vintage components
Piher and ISKRA resistors, plus German-made Beyschlag and ERO or Roederstein parts, are used throughout. Capacitors include Siemens, Wima, ERO or Roederstein, and the highly regarded Mullard tropical fish series. These choices are central to the REDD vibe engineers prize for its punchy, aggressive tone.

Classic REDD circuit, with added REDD.51 features
The core REDD.47 circuit path remains intact, and Chandler adds Input Sensitivity, Line Input, and Bass Lift sections taken from the REDD.51 console for extra flexibility.

“Super Vintage” build approach
This Special Edition launches Chandler’s wider Super Vintage line, clearly labeled on the rear panel, signaling designs that integrate genuine period parts.

Purposeful, studio-focused design
The front panel layout mirrors original REDD console cassettes and features a lighted EMI sign, tying the user experience to the historic hardware.

Why engineers will care

The sonic fingerprint associated with EMI’s REDD consoles is hard to fake. By combining Wade Goeke’s meticulous design work with genuine period parts, this unit aims for the feel, tone, and longevity of classic equipment, without compromising on modern reliability. Abbey Road’s team underscores how close this edition gets to owning an original preamp from the 1960s.

Availability

The REDD.47 Special Edition is a limited build and available for pre-order now. Projected ship timing is to be confirmed. If the REDD sound is a must-have in your chain, this is a compelling way to secure it with historically correct parts.
