Merging Technologies Pyramix 16 introduces a range of updates focused on stereo imaging, immersive workflows, expanded I/O, and system flexibility. The release adds PanNoir to the mixer, integrates a built-in Dolby Atmos Renderer in Pyramix Premium, increases supported I/O across higher tiers, and introduces qualified support for Parallels Desktop environments.

PanNoir is one of the key additions in Pyramix 16, developed in collaboration with Jean-Daniel Noir. It is designed for multi-microphone stereo recording applications such as classical, jazz, and acoustic production. Unlike traditional panning methods that rely only on level differences, PanNoir also incorporates time-based positioning. This approach helps align spot microphones more naturally within a stereo field while maintaining phase relationships with the main microphone array. The update also includes microphone directivity presets for select Neumann models and automatic spot mic detection tools.

For immersive audio production, Pyramix Premium now includes a built-in Dolby Atmos Renderer. It supports speaker configurations up to 9.1.6 along with Dolby binaural monitoring. External rendering workflows remain available for larger sessions or when additional processing is required. Integration with Final Check allows for loudness verification during live re-renders, keeping the workflow contained within the software when needed.

I/O capacity has also been expanded in the Pro and Premium versions. These configurations are designed for higher track counts, broadcast workflows, and immersive production setups that may include external processing. The updated specifications show increased hardware I/O at multiple sample rates, while MassCore continues to provide the highest available capacity and low-latency performance within the system.

Pyramix 16 introduces qualified support for running on Parallels Desktop, allowing operation on Mac hardware alongside macOS applications. Some third-party tools may have limitations on ARM-based systems, with licensing tools such as iLok noted in the release documentation.

The update also includes changes to licensing and upgrade structure, replacing ASM with USR and D-USR models. New renewal options are available across Elements, Pro, Premium, and MassCore configurations, along with a grace period for users on earlier versions.

Pyramix Elements provides a streamlined setup for recording, editing, and mastering. Pyramix Pro expands functionality with advanced editing tools, Final Check metering, and time and pitch processing. Pyramix Premium adds immersive audio capabilities, including Dolby Atmos tools, ADM support, advanced video handling, and the highest native I/O capacity among the software tiers. MassCore remains available as an add-on for extended performance and system scalability.
