Merging Technologies is introducing the PT64V3 I/O Expansion Card, designed to connect Pro Tools HDX systems with the Hapi Mk III interface over RAVENNA/AES67 or DANTE networks. Available from early November 2025, this expansion card allows audio professionals to expand their setups with flexibility and precision, making it easier to integrate the Merging ecosystem into existing Pro Tools workflows.

With the PT64V3, users can access Merging's renowned preamps and converters while taking advantage of monitoring options like the Neumann MT 48 or the Merging Anubis. This solution is ideal for both stereo and immersive audio configurations. When paired with Hapi Mk III and other Merging expansion options, the PT64V3 offers a compelling alternative to systems like Avid’s MTRX Studio or MTRX II, providing high audio quality and configuration flexibility.

Each PT64V3 card supports up to 64 channels at 48 kHz, 32 channels at 96 kHz, or 16 channels at 192 kHz over a single HDX connection. Users can install two PT64V3 cards in one Hapi Mk III for 128 channels of HDX2 connectivity. For more demanding systems, two Hapi Mk IIIs with three total PT64V3 cards can provide up to 192 DigiLink I/O channels for HDX3 setups.

The card also enables mixed configurations, such as combining one PT64V3 with a MADI128V3 while still using the built-in AES3 and ADAT channels on the Hapi Mk III. In this setup, the system can support up to 210 network inputs in RAVENNA/AES67 mode.

One particularly useful feature is the PT64V3's ability to emulate the latency of HD I/O, HD MADI, and 192 I/O hardware. This ensures Pro Tools compensates accurately for hardware delay during recording, helping maintain perfect sync across complex, mixed configurations.

For compatibility, users running Pro Tools versions earlier than 2022.4 will need a DigiLink I/O license. In DANTE mode, only one PT64V3 can be used, supporting up to 64 channels with the appropriate Audinate license. The card is also compatible with Hapi Mk II units (RAVENNA/AES67 only).

For Pro Tools HDX users looking to expand their capabilities with high-performance networked audio, the PT64V3 makes Merging’s ecosystem a strong and scalable solution.
