Description

The Drawmer 1979 is a modern, all-in-one 1U channel strip that brings together clean analog precision with vintage-style warmth and musicality. Designed for tracking, mixing, and tone shaping, it features a transparent mic/line/instrument preamp, a unique Lift module, a fully variable 3-band parametric EQ, and a soft-knee FET compressor all tailored to provide professional-grade signal control in both studio and live environments.

At the front end, the preamp offers up to 66dB of stepped gain, with impedance switching for optimizing any microphone from ribbons to condensers. The Lift function, originally introduced in the 1972 model, enhances quieter elements of a signal without compressing louder ones, making it perfect for vocals, ambient recordings, and acoustic instruments. It subtly enhances dynamic balance while preserving clarity and detail which makes it ideal for “set and forget” usage.

The 1979 also gives engineers full control over tone and dynamics with a smooth, musical EQ, a flexible signal chain (EQ > Comp or Comp > EQ), and a wet/dry blend for parallel processing. The VU meter, make-up gain, and bypass switch make level management intuitive and precise. Whether you're sculpting a vocal, tightening up a bass guitar, or gluing a mix together, the Drawmer 1979 offers a flexible and powerful toolset in a compact, rack-ready format handmade in the UK to exacting standards.
