Description

The Rupert Neve Designs OptoFET Dual Stage Compressor is a versatile analog dynamics processor that combines two independent compression circuits within a single rack unit. With both an optical compressor and a FET compressor onboard, users can apply them in series for layered control or split them across frequency bands to shape specific tonal ranges. This allows for both subtle and aggressive compression techniques, depending on the needs of the source material.

Each section of the OptoFET includes controls for attack, release, threshold, blend, and makeup gain, giving engineers a wide range of dynamic control. Additional features include side-chain high-pass filters, a variable crossover for frequency-based processing, and unique harmonic shaping modes: GRIT emphasizes the upper mids and highs, while BLOOM brings out character in the low-mids. With the ability to reorder the signal path and finely tune the interaction between the two stages, this unit is well suited for tracking, mixing, mastering, and sound design.
