Description

The Audient ASP4816-HE is a compact, fully analogue recording and mixing console that brings the sound and workflow of a large-format desk into a space-conscious design. Featuring 16 Class-A discrete microphone preamps derived from Audient's ASP8024-HE, the console delivers transparent audio capture with the flexibility of an in-line architecture. Separate short and long fader paths allow recording inputs and DAW returns to be managed independently, making it easy to move between tracking, monitoring and mixing.

Each channel provides a versatile four-band equalizer with switchable high and low shelving frequencies, two fully parametric mid bands and independent EQ section assignment between signal paths. With 16 multitrack buses, eight subgroups, six auxiliary sends, two dedicated cue sends and four stereo effects returns, the ASP4816-HE offers extensive routing possibilities. Comprehensive control room monitoring, independent foldback mixes, talkback and detailed LED metering keep the recording process organized while providing direct access to essential studio functions.

For mixdown, the Heritage Edition combines analogue summing through discrete John Hardy 990C+ op-amps with a dedicated stereo bus compressor and selectable mix bus processing. Its XFRMR Drive circuit introduces two Carnhill output transformers for added weight and character, while Low Bump and High Lift provide subtle tonal shaping. Together, these tools allow engineers to move from clean, detailed analogue mixing to a more coloured sound, all from the console's tactile control surface.

Features

Class-A Discrete Microphone Preamps
Sixteen discrete Class-A microphone preamps based on the ASP8024-HE design provide transparent signal capture with generous headroom for detailed recordings.

Flexible In-Line Architecture
Separate short and long fader signal paths allow microphone inputs and DAW returns to be controlled simultaneously, simplifying tracking, monitoring and mixing.

Heritage Edition Mix Bus
Discrete John Hardy 990C+ op-amps provide low-noise analogue summing with detailed transient response and punch.

Carnhill Transformer Drive
Switchable XFRMR Drive engages two Carnhill output transformers to introduce additional analogue colour, weight and low-frequency punch.

Low Bump and High Lift Processing
Dedicated mix bus processing adds subtle low-frequency weight and high-frequency air when the transformer drive circuit is engaged.

Four-Band Channel Equalization
Switchable high and low shelving filters combine with two fully parametric mid bands for broad tonal shaping and precise frequency adjustments.

Independent EQ Path Assignment
High/low and mid EQ sections can be assigned independently to the short or long fader paths, allowing different processing during recording and monitoring.

Extensive Multitrack Routing
Sixteen recording buses provide flexible signal routing to external recording equipment, with individual bus output trims for level adjustment.

Eight Analogue Subgroups
Subgroup faders with dedicated inserts, panning, solo and mute controls allow multiple channels to be combined and processed together.

Integrated Stereo Bus Compressor
Adjustable threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain provide stereo mix dynamics control, with Bass Expand to reduce low-frequency pumping.

Flexible Auxiliary and Cue Sends
Six auxiliary sends and two dedicated cue sends support external effects processing and independent musician monitoring mixes.

Dedicated Stereo Effects Returns
Four stereo return channels provide additional inputs for external processors, with routing to the stereo mix, multitrack buses and foldback system.

Comprehensive Control Room Monitoring
Switch between four stereo monitor outputs with independent alternate speaker trims, mono checking, dim and individual speaker mute controls.

Talkback and Foldback Communication
Integrated talkback routing and two independent stereo foldback outputs help maintain communication and provide personalized monitoring for performers.

Detailed Metering and Studio Integration
High-resolution LED metering, channel inserts, balanced connections and a dedicated external monitor controller integration port support efficient studio operation.
