Description

The Schoeps CMC 6 U +5 dB is a special version of the CMC 6 U microphone amplifier. A microphone built with it has a sensitivity 5 dB higher than with the standard version, while the equivalent noise level and maximum output voltage are not materially affected.

The trade-off is headroom: the highest sound pressure level the microphone can accept without distortion is 5 dB lower than in the standard version, and the signal-to-noise ratio stays essentially the same with either gain setting. It can be chosen to lift the microphone's signal above the noise level of the equipment it connects to, or for sounds that occur mainly at low levels.
