Description

The Dangerous Music BAX500 is a single-slot 500-series equalizer designed for smooth, musical tone shaping during tracking, mixing, and mastering. Its broad Baxandall-style high and low shelves let you shape several octaves at once, making it easy to add openness, weight, warmth, or polish without creating an obviously processed sound. Continuous boost and cut controls support subtle adjustments, while the compact format makes it practical for individual sources, mono buses, or paired stereo applications.

High-cut and low-cut filters help manage unwanted frequency extremes that can reduce clarity and headroom. These filters can be combined with the shelving controls to tighten the low end, soften excessive brightness, add air to vocals or instruments, and create balanced tonal contours. A hard-wired bypass supports direct comparisons, making the BAX500 a flexible choice for refining vocals, instruments, mix buses, and complete masters while preserving the natural character of the source.

Features

Musical Baxandall EQ
Shapes tone with smooth, natural curves that help tracks and mixes sound polished rather than heavily processed.

Low-Cut Filter
Removes unwanted low-frequency rumble to improve clarity, punch, and available headroom.

High-Cut Filter
Reduces harsh or unnecessary high-frequency content for a smoother, more controlled sound.

Low Shelf
Adds or reduces weight across a broad range for fuller lows or a cleaner bottom end.

High Shelf
Adds openness and air or gently softens bright material without sounding sharp.

Continuous Level Controls
Makes it easy to apply subtle tonal changes and fine-tune the sound by ear.

Filter and Shelf Combinations
Lets you combine cuts and boosts to create tighter lows, smoother highs, and more musical overall contours.

True Bypass
Completely removes the unit from the signal path for clear before-and-after comparisons.

Tracking, Mixing, and Mastering
Works well on individual sources, buses, and final mixes for broad, high-quality tone shaping.

Compact Module Format
Fits into a single 500-series slot for easy use in portable or studio-based setups.
