Description

The Schoeps BLCg is a mounting plate for directional boundary-layer technique. It turns any directional CCM compact microphone, or any MK capsule with an Active Cable KC, into a boundary-layer (PZM) microphone.

This is especially useful when recording moving singers or actors on a stage, or when a microphone on a stand would be obtrusive. The boundary layer effect creates a 3 dB increase of the direct-to-room ratio, so the recording distance can be increased without negative effects. Schoeps lists it for use with CCM or MK 4 or 41, and it is often used at the stage edge in opera live recording.

A rubber ring built into the bottom of the plate prevents inadvertent rotation of the plate and damage to the surface on which it is placed.

Directional Boundary-Layer Recording
It is made for boundary-layer recording with cardioid and supercardioid microphones. It turns any directional CCM microphone or MK capsule with Active Cable KC into a boundary-layer (PZM) microphone.

Boundary-Layer Gain Without Comb Filtering
It achieves +3 dB direct sound due to the boundary layer effect, without comb filter effects.

Longer Recording Distance
The boundary layer effect creates a 3 dB increase of the direct-to-room ratio. An increase of the recording distance is therefore possible without negative effects.

Discreet Placement
The plate allows unobtrusive microphone placement, with no stands or hanging fixtures required. It is useful for moving singers or actors on a stage.

Stage Edge Use
It is often used at the stage edge in opera live recording.

Non-Slip Rubber Ring
A rubber ring built into the bottom prevents inadvertent rotation of the plate and damage to the surface on which it is placed.
