Description

The Schoeps CCM 2S is an omnidirectional (pressure transducer) compact microphone with a slight high-frequency emphasis for frontal sound incidence. This is the L version with the standard Lemo connector, in a matte gray finish.

High frequencies roll off only slightly off axis and in the reverberant sound field. Its frequency response falls between that of the CCM 2 and the CCM 2XS, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Schoeps notes it has become its most popular pressure transducer.

It has proven particularly useful in two- and three-microphone stereo arrays, where placement near the reverberation radius of the sound field gives a balanced pickup. For spaced (A/B) stereo recording and especially the Decca Tree method, KA 40 accessory spheres are recommended.
