Description

The Schoeps CCM 41 is a supercardioid compact microphone with highly consistent directionality throughout its frequency range. This is the L version with the standard Lemo connector, in a matte gray finish, and it suits both music and speech.

Sound arriving from off axis is attenuated even more than with a cardioid, and its directivity is highly independent of frequency. Even distant placement of the capsule produces a very natural sound pickup. Up through midrange frequencies its directivity is comparable to that of a short shotgun microphone.

Schoeps describes it as a surprisingly effective, space-saving alternative to shotgun microphones. It is often preferred for film sound recording and as a spot microphone in orchestras, and it can serve as the M channel of an M/S arrangement.
