Description

The Schoeps Parabolic Dish Set with CMC 1 L and MK 2 is a matched system of a parabolic dish and a Colette microphone, built for the highest directivity at medium and high frequencies. The dish is an OEM Telinga parabolic dish, and this version uses the omnidirectional MK 2 capsule on the CMC 1 L amplifier.

A parabolic dish achieves a surprisingly high directivity at high and medium frequencies with relatively simple means. Schoeps positions the microphone to give a smooth frequency response, which is unusual for a parabolic system, and the free ParabolEQ plugin then equalizes it to a flat response between 100 Hz and 20 kHz. A Rycote windshield with fur gives strong protection against wind noise.

The set suits nature recordings, sports broadcasts and sound design. The dish folds without disassembling the components, and an XLR output in the handle lets the system connect to a standard microphone cable.

Omnidirectional Capsule
The omni is the usual capsule for recording with a parabolic dish. It causes fewer problems with handling noise and wind noise, and it can also pick up very low frequencies, without directivity, at a good level.

The free ParabolEQ plugin filters according to the entered application parameters and produces a flat frequency response between 100 Hz and 20 kHz.

Rycote Windshield with Fur

Foldable Dish
