Description

The Schoeps CMC121g Set is a modular Colette microphone that joins a miniature CMC 1 U amplifier with an XLR-3M output to an MK 21 capsule. The MK 21 is a wide cardioid, a pattern that lies between the omni and the cardioid and combines the warm sound of the one with the directivity of the other.

Schoeps lists the MK 21 as preferred for use as a soloist microphone or main microphone. Its polar response is extremely consistent, which leads to a very natural sound, and its low-frequency behaviour is better than that of the cardioid, with less pronounced proximity effect. It is also popular as a main microphone pair, for example at a spacing of 30 cm and an angle of +/- 45°.

The CMC 1 U is about one-third the length and 53% lighter than the CMC 6, and it runs on 48 V or 12 V phantom power at very low current consumption. Both parts come in a matte gray finish.

Miniature Colette Amplifier
The CMC 1 is about one-third the length and 53% lighter than the CMC 6. It is compatible with all components of the Colette system.

XLR-3M Output
The CMC 1 U is the variant with an XLR-3M output connector, analog, 1 channel.

Flexible Phantom Powering
The amplifier operates on 48 V or 12 V phantom power. Current consumption is very low, at 2.0 mA at 48 Volts.

RFI Shield
The SCHOEPS RFI Shield gives very high immunity from RF interference.

Balanced Class-A Output
The output circuit is balanced, direct-coupled and class-A. The output is filtered in the ultrasonic range to prevent interference, for example from camera autofocus.
