Description

The Schoeps CMC 1 L with MK 8 is a modular Colette microphone that joins a miniature CMC 1 L amplifier with a Lemo output to an MK 8 capsule. The MK 8 is a figure-of-eight capsule with lateral pickup, perpendicular to the microphone axis.

Schoeps names M/S, double M/S and Blumlein stereo as the preferred applications of the MK 8. Its figure-eight pattern remains constant from low to high frequencies, which matters most in an M/S setup. The capsule is comparatively sensitive to solid-borne sound as well as wind and breath noise, so suitable wind screening and shock mounting should be considered.

The CMC 1 L is about one-third the length and 53% lighter than the CMC 6, and it works with 48 V or 12 V phantom power at very low current consumption. Both the amplifier and the capsule come in a matte gray finish.

Features

Figure-of-Eight Capsule
The MK 8 has a figure-eight characteristic with pickup perpendicular to the microphone axis. The 0° axis is marked with a red dot.

Built for M/S Stereo
The pattern of the MK 8 remains constant from low to high frequencies. Preferred applications are M/S, double M/S and Blumlein stereo.

Miniature Colette Amplifier
The CMC 1 L is about one-third the length and 53% lighter than the CMC 6. It is compatible with all components of the Colette system.

Lemo Output Connector
The CMC 1 L is the variant of the CMC 1 U with a miniature Lemo output connector.

Flexible Phantom Powering
The amplifier operates on 48 V or 12 V phantom power, so it suits both standard and marginal powering.

Low Current Consumption
Current consumption is very low, at 2.0 mA at 48 Volts.

RFI Shield
The SCHOEPS RFI Shield gives very high immunity from RF interference.

Balanced Class-A Output
The output circuit is balanced, direct-coupled and class-A. The output is filtered in the ultrasonic range to prevent interference, for example from camera autofocus.
