Description

The Schoeps Decca Tree Set 1L2S is the modular form of the Decca Tree Set: three microphones, each built from a CMC 1 L amplifier and an MK 2S omnidirectional capsule, supplied with KA 40 sphere attachments for recording with a Decca Tree. The Decca Tree is a triangular arrangement of three omnidirectional microphones.

The MK 2S capsule has a moderate high-frequency response elevation at 0°, which compensates high-frequency losses when used near the reverberation radius. The CMC 1 L amplifier has a Lemo output and the Schoeps RFI Shield. The KA 40 spheres increase directivity between 1 and 4 kHz, which creates differences among the three signals, the same principle used by the M 50 microphones of the original 1950s Decca Tree.

Place the microphones at least 1.5 m apart to reduce crosstalk and excessive correlation at low frequencies. Because capsule and amplifier are separate parts, the capsule can be exchanged.
