Description
The sE Electronics DM2 is a compact inline microphone preamp designed to add clean, switchable gain to passive microphones. It provides either +15 dB or +30 dB of gain, helping boost lower-output dynamic and passive ribbon microphones before the signal reaches a mixer, audio interface, or other microphone preamp. Its slim, in-line design connects directly to a microphone or XLR cable, making it a convenient addition to recording, broadcast, podcasting, and live-sound setups.
The DM2 is powered by standard 48 V phantom power and passes the amplified microphone signal through a balanced three-pin XLR connection. A built-in gain and load switch lets you select the gain setting and adjust the input impedance to suit different microphones, with eight load settings ranging from 50 Ω to very high impedance. Because phantom power is required for operation, the DM2 is intended for passive microphones and should not be used with microphones that also require phantom power, such as condenser microphones or active ribbon microphones.
