Description

The Arturia KeyLab Essential 88 mk3 is a full-size MIDI controller designed to give pianists and producers a spacious, expressive playing experience while keeping music creation simple and intuitive. With 88 velocity-sensitive synth-action keys, it offers the range and comfort needed for two-handed piano parts, layered textures, or detailed orchestral arrangements. Its clean layout combines performance controls and DAW navigation in one streamlined surface, so you can stay focused on playing instead of reaching for a mouse.

At the center of the workflow is a bright display with a clickable main encoder for browsing sounds, adjusting parameters, and navigating sessions. Nine rotary encoders and nine faders provide hands-on control of instruments and mixes, while eight RGB pads with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch are ready for finger drumming, clip launching, or triggering samples. Dedicated transport controls give direct access to play, stop, record, loop, and tempo functions, helping you manage your DAW without breaking your creative flow.

Creative tools are built right into the keyboard. Chord mode lets you trigger full harmonies from a single key, Scale mode keeps your performance locked to a chosen key, and the arpeggiator turns held notes into evolving rhythmic patterns. Hold, octave shift, and transpose functions expand your range even further. Powered via USB-C and equipped with a traditional 5-pin MIDI output and pedal input, the KeyLab Essential 88 mk3 fits easily into both computer-based and hardware setups, making it a versatile foundation for studio production and live performance alike.
