Description

The Schoeps CMC 6 U linear is a special version of the CMC 6 U microphone amplifier with a response that is flat to as low as 10 Hz. The standard CMC 6 U has a gradual rolloff below 20 Hz that guards against infrasonic disturbances such as air movement and vibration.

Picking up frequencies below 20 Hz without attenuation can be desirable with pressure (omnidirectional) transducers, particularly in digital recording. Schoeps advises caution: ventilation systems in large spaces such as churches and concert halls, or traffic rumble, can create a problem, and pressure gradient transducers respond even more strongly to low-frequency mechanical stimuli such as air currents and solid-borne noise.

Features

Flat to 10 Hz
The response is flat to as low as 10 Hz, instead of the gradual rolloff below 20 Hz of the standard version.

For Pressure Transducers
Picking up frequencies below 20 Hz without attenuation can be desirable with omnidirectional capsules, particularly in digital recording.

Infrasonic Awareness
Schoeps cautions that ventilation systems and traffic rumble can create a problem when very low frequencies are not attenuated.

Built on the CMC 6 U
It is a special version of the CMC 6 U, with an XLR-3M analog output.
