The Neumann M 50 V Set is a meticulously hand-built reissue of the legendary M 50 microphone, celebrated for its iconic role in classical and film score recordings especially within Decca Tree configurations. This modern recreation stays true to the original design while integrating subtle, thoughtful updates for improved reliability and performance in today’s studios. At the heart of the M 50 V is a small diaphragm capsule (K 33 Ti), flush-mounted in a 40 mm acrylic sphere, resulting in an even diffuse field response and a smooth increase in directivity at higher frequencies which is ideal for accurate, three-dimensional imaging.

The M 50 V retains the classic tube-based circuit with a BV11 output transformer, delivering vintage warmth and presence, while its titanium diaphragm enhances durability without compromising the original sonic character. Unlike the solid-state M 150, this version leans into authenticity with a historical tube design and transformer-based output. The set includes the NM V power supply, which auto-adapts to local voltages, a 10 m cable, a shockmount with rumble protection, and a premium case. While its fixed omnidirectional pattern limits polar flexibility, its design is purpose-built for high-fidelity ensemble capture. It shines in Decca Tree arrays, spaced omni setups, and orchestral main miking but also finds use in ambient, room, and specialty applications where natural space and clarity are paramount.
