Description

The MD7 is a versatile, all-discrete preamplifier built around the legendary 1122 op-amp and Jensen transformers, designed to deliver depth, resolution, and character with the reliability engineers expect from Avedis Audio. With a gain range from 0"64 dB in precise 4 dB steps plus a fine trim control, the MD7 offers recall-friendly settings and the ability to push its transformer into musical saturation during peaks thanks to its no-pad design. The result is a preamp that remains transparent when needed, yet capable of adding rich harmonic color when driven.

Beyond microphone duties, the MD7 excels as a creative studio tool. A high-impedance 10 Mohm DI input makes it perfect for guitars, basses, and other instruments, while the unique SEND/RETURN feature allows signals to be routed through stompboxes or external processors directly from the preamp. Additional features like a smooth high-pass filter (-3 dB at 80 Hz), phase reverse, and gently filtered 48V phantom power provide flexibility in any recording situation. With its wide bandwidth, high headroom, and ultra-low noise performance, the MD7 is equally suited for pristine tracking, re-amplification, and experimentation - making it a powerful and musical front end for any studio.
