Description

The SCHOEPS MK 21g Matched Pair is a set of two matched MK 21 wide cardioid microphone capsules in matte gray. The directivity of the wide cardioid lies between the omni and the cardioid, combining the advantages of both.

Schoeps lists the soloist microphone and the main microphone as preferred uses, and the MK 21 is popular as a main microphone pair, for example at a spacing of 30 cm and an angle of +/- 45°. The MK 21 is preferred when a slight directional effect and a warm, natural sound image are desired.

Wide Cardioid Pattern
It combines the warm sound of the omni with the directivity of the cardioid.

Consistent Polar Response
The polar pattern is extremely consistent across the frequency range, so laterally-arriving direct sound and reflections are picked up without added coloration.

Soloist or Main Pair
It is popular as a main microphone pair, for example at a spacing of 30 cm and an angle of +/- 45°.

Less Proximity Effect
The low-frequency behaviour is better than that of the cardioid, and the proximity effect is less pronounced.
