Description

The Schoeps MK 2S Matched Pair is a set of two MK 2S omnidirectional microphone capsules in matte gray, specially matched to each other. Matching is an option Schoeps offers because, although normal production tolerances are very close, a stereo pair benefits from capsules chosen to belong together.

The MK 2S has a slight high-frequency emphasis for frontal sound incidence and only a slight rolloff of high frequencies off axis and in the reverberant sound field. Its response sits between that of the MK 2 and the MK 2XS, which suits a wide range of applications. Schoeps calls it its most popular pressure transducer and notes it works well in two- and three-microphone stereo arrays, placed near the reverberation radius.

The capsules fit the Colette series amplifiers listed by Schoeps as matching products (CMC 1 U, CMC 1 L and CMC 6). For spaced A/B stereo and the Decca Tree method, Schoeps recommends its KA 40 accessory spheres.
