Description

The Schoeps MK 4P is a cardioid microphone capsule designed for the very closest speech pickup, directly in front of the speaker's mouth. It is the matte gray (g) version, with the same polar diagram as the standard MK 4.

Its low-frequency rolloff (-6 dB at 100 Hz) is compensated by proximity effect. Up to the point of its high-frequency emphasis, the response is flat for the speaker's voice, while sound that comes from a greater distance shows a rolloff at low frequencies. Background sounds are therefore picked up less strongly than the person speaking.

Schoeps lists close speech pickup and public address systems as preferred applications. The capsule fits the CMC 1 U, CMC 1 L and CMC 6 amplifiers that Schoeps lists as matching products, and the B 5 D hollow foam wind and pop shield is a recommended accessory.
