Description

The Schoeps MK 4XPg Matched Pair is two MK 4XP close-pickup capsules in matte gray, supplied as a matched pair. Each one is a cardioid capsule designed for the very closest speech pickup, directly in front of the speaker's mouth, with a polar diagram identical to the MK 4.

Its low-frequency rolloff of -10 dB at 100 Hz is compensated by proximity effect. Up to the point of its high-frequency emphasis, the response stays flat for the speaker's voice, while sound from a greater distance is rolled off at low frequencies. As a result, background sounds are picked up less strongly than the person speaking.

XP is the stronger of the two rolloff levels in this series and is meant for use where there is loud low-frequency environmental sound, for example a reporter in a stadium. Preferred applications are close speech pickup and public address systems.
