Description

The Schoeps Orchestra Set Quartet with CMC 6xt is a plug and play set that lets you mike a classical string quartet completely: two violins, a viola and a cello. It brings four microphones together with matching stand arrangements, an approach Schoeps says customers have applied for a long time with hundreds of orchestras worldwide.

Each microphone pairs a cardioid MK 4 capsule with the CMC 6xt, the HiRes version of the CMC 6. With this amplifier the frequency range of the MK 4 reaches 41 kHz, which is useful for recording at high sample rates, for example when you plan to slow the recording down for sound design. Schoeps also paid attention to low self-noise above 20 kHz.

The capsules sit on active RC extension tubes mounted on STR support rods and heavy BF 250 floor stands. This keeps the microphones unobtrusive in the ensemble, and the tilting head lets you aim each capsule where it is needed.

Features

Complete String Quartet Set
Four microphones with matching stand arrangements cover two violins, a viola and a cello.

HiRes CMC 6xt Amplifiers
The CMC 6xt is the HiRes version of the CMC 6 and extends the frequency range of axially addressed capsules for high sample rate work.

Low Self-Noise Above 20 kHz
The amplifier was designed for low self-noise above 20 kHz, which keeps dynamics high at high sampling rates.

Cardioid MK 4 Capsules
The MK 4 is a cardioid capsule whose directivity is highly independent of frequency. It suits acoustic instruments and spot miking.

Active RC Extension Tubes
The tubes sit between capsule and amplifier and place the microphones unobtrusively without affecting the view. The head tilts the capsule between 0° and 120°.

Stable Floor Stands
STR support rods fit into the collet of heavy BF 250 floor bases for a stable setup.

Compatible Colette System
Because the set is built on the modular Colette system, capsules and amplifiers are separate parts.
