Description

The IGS Audio VOLF is a powerful, stereo FET compressor that channels the spirit of the legendary UREI 1176 while introducing modern upgrades for today's production needs. Designed to excel at tightening bass frequencies and shaping dynamic content with precision, VOLF offers the speed, punch, and tonal warmth that made the original famous now with stereo operation and greater flexibility. Whether you're working in a studio or live environment, VOLF delivers fast, transparent compression and a musical response that's ideal for drums, bass, vocals, and full mixes.

Built around a Class A discrete circuit and equipped with ultra-low noise IGS 2520 op-amps, VOLF features fully stepped 24-position ELMA switches on Input, Output, and Mix controls for precise, recallable settings. Its Wet/Dry mix knob allows for easy parallel compression, and the switchable input mode, between transformer-balanced and IC-balanced offers distinct tonal flavors to suit different sources. The unit also includes sidechain high-pass filtering (selectable at 240Hz, 180Hz, 120Hz, 90Hz, 60Hz, or Off) for more controlled compression, especially when working with bass-heavy material.

With fast attack times (as low as 20μs), release times up to 1.2 seconds, and up to 30 dB of gain reduction, VOLF can deliver both aggressive and subtle compression. A dedicated AMP mode bypasses the compression circuit entirely, letting you drive the amplifier stage for up to 45 dB of gain and rich transformer saturation. Coupled with a link option for stereo coherence, UTM Industry input/output transformers, and a linear internal power supply, VOLF is built for serious tone shaping and dynamic control making it a standout tool for engineers chasing vintage character with modern control.
