The Zaxcom VRX1 is a compact, rugged, and highly adaptable analog VHF IFB (Interruptible Foldback) audio receiver designed to meet the needs of professionals in film, television, and live broadcasting. With its clear, reliable audio output and streamlined user interface, it’s built for quick deployment on set for cueing talent, monitoring audio feeds, or coordinating crew communication. Plug in an earpiece or headphones through the standard 3.5mm jack, and you’re ready to go. The unit’s intuitive voice prompt system keeps operators informed without looking away, announcing critical info like battery life, channel selection, and other settings straight through the headphones.

At the heart of the VRX1 is a direct conversion design that minimizes RF interference while extending battery life which is essential for demanding environments. It operates in the 192–217 MHz VHF range with ten pre-programmed channels, ensuring quick setup. Users can reprogram channels using the optional Zaxcom GUI Bridge (ZGB), a tool that streamlines management across multiple units. Designed for compatibility, the VRX1 works seamlessly with popular Comtek VHF transmitters, making it a flexible solution that integrates into existing workflows. With advanced features like voting (for automatically locking onto the strongest signal), frame-specific audio delay (1–15 frames), adaptive squelch, and headphone equalization, the VRX1 provides precise control without complexity.

For power, the VRX1 accepts AA alkaline, NiMH, or lithium batteries, with up to 17 hours of runtime on lithium cells. It can also be powered or charged via USB-C which allows for in-device charging of NiMH batteries. An optional VRX Dual Charger supports charging two units at once, ideal for busy productions. Whether used with traditional analog transmitters or prepared for Zaxcom’s future digital VHF systems, the VRX1 is a forward-looking tool crafted for today's and tomorrow’s audio coordination needs.
