The ELUX 251 recreates the sonic beauty of the fabled AKG built Telefunken ELA M251 TM, one of the most sought after vintage mics ever built. Its midrange focus, strong, powerful bottom and airy, unabrasive top puts this mic leagues ahead of others; its performance simply cannot be found in cheaper microphones. It is the sum total of optimized traditional circuitry and "cost is no object" components. Unlike the original, however, ours is constructed of solid machined brass, steel and stainless steel screws instead of polystyrene (doomed to structural failure in just a few years) and rivets for the main structure. It simply won't fall apart!
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Sound. This microphone gives the sense that it's response extends well above and below the normal range of a studio microphone, and it fulfills the elusive quest for high frequency response that is not only present, but natural. This allows vocals to sound naturally dominant without being overbearing, to come forward without being obtrusive. It transforms the most intimate details of a vocal, maintaining it's clarity even under stressful vocal situations, and doesn't fold or get harsh as the singer's intensity increases. It will give you absolute confidence that your vocal tracks will stand the test of generational degradation: mixing, processing, mastering, broadcasting and webcasting! All of the technical details and attention to the old school philosophy and craftsmanship are there for one reason: to provide you with the highest quality recordings possible, with no compromise. The ELUX 251 is the ultimate high resolution tube mic!
HOW DO I USE IT
Though it's primary use will undoubtedly be on male or female vocals, the ELUX 251 will also find itself an extraordinary performer on other instruments as well. A single ELUX 251 in front of a drum kit through a good tube compressor may be the biggest drum kit sound you'll ever get! Drum kits will have astounding impact and transient response, with no overt artificial high end or midrange boxiness. Pianos will also benefit from the open top of this mic. It will also excel on percussion, acoustic guitars, standup bass, and as a main ensemble mic.
